About the asset report for Local Campaigns

The asset report lists each asset used in a Local Campaign and allows you to compare performance across a variety of assets. Over time, you’ll be able to make strategic decisions about which assets to rotate, which to phase out, and which are most effective for driving your local goals. It also gives you an idea of new assets to create that are likely to have good performance based on similar assets.

Before you begin

You’ll need to set up a Local Campaign to see your asset report. Learn more about Local Campaigns.

How it works

To see your asset report, follow these instructions:

  1. Sign into your Google Ads account.

  2. Click Campaigns from the page menu on the left.

  3. Find and click on the relevant Local Campaign.

  4. Click on the relevant ad group.

  5. This should bring you to the asset report for your Local ad.

What you’ll find in your asset report

Details about your Local Campaign ads

At the very top of the report you’ll find whether your ad group and campaign is enabled or paused, as well as each ad’s status, name, and time frame. If one or more of your assets violates or is limited by an Ads policy, you may also see information regarding that here.

Filters and views

If you have a long list of assets, you can filter by enabled state, asset type, and performance. You can also adjust your report view or download the report.


In the assets column, you’ll see:

  • The content of each asset (such as text or image or video thumbnail)
  • If applicable, asset dimensions (for images) or asset length (for videos)

Asset type

The asset type column defines how each asset is used. Here are the kinds of assets you might find:

  • Headline
  • Description
  • Image
  • Logo
  • YouTube Video
  • Call to action
Note: Assets should be compared by asset type. For example, a “low” rating on video is not the same as “low” on headline.


The performance column ranks assets against other assets of the same type. It will show you which assets of the same type are:

  • Low, as in low performing against all other assets of the same type
  • Good, as in performs well enough against all other assets of the same type
  • Best, as in one of the highest performers of all assets of the same type

Before enough data is available to assign a performance label, you see an asset carry a default “LEARNING” status.
